Scottish Honey- Background
This novel is only available in German at the present moment,
Carola’s most popular novel, written as Pippa Arden, her pseudonym for her romantic novels, with sequels planned, she was about to achieve success, but sadly terminal illness dashed her hopes.
There are proposals to continue the series, but now is not the time to speculate.
Pipsby, where the plot in Scottish Honey develops, is fictional. But travel along the coast east of Inverness, to a town twinned with Hersbruck in the Upper Palatinate region of Bavaria, where some citizens learn German, then you might notice a few similarities. Photo from in front of the Covesea Lighthouse, a registered charity. The keepers‘ cottages are used as holiday lets.
On the hill looking over the town, in a house with a name but no number, fond memories of Carola still echo, and a copy of the book might well be seen.
In the village of Dervaig on the north side of the Island of Mull, there used to be a bookshop called „Coffee and Books“ where you could sit and browse with a coffee long before it became trendy. And a cat stretched over the ancient cash register, disdaining all who approached with the idea of parting with their money. This is the bookshop in Scottish Honey and Carola’s idea of bookshop heaven.
